bland, boring bee gees night
it's such a mystery. the top 4, this idol season's creme de la creme, didn't wow. at all. after an amazing bon jovi night, this week's feature on the bee gees' songbook was a complete letdown.
you know how there are songs that seem so easy to sing but they actually aren't? and when you attempt to sing them, even only in the shower, you realize just how difficult they are and you suddenly have a new-found respect for the artist that made them hits (that's how i feel about gloria estefan)? last night's show left me wondering if it was the same deal for the likes of "staying alive", "woman in love", "you should be dancing", etc. *sigh*
each idol got to sing two songs last night. each idol had two chances to step it up, bring their a-game, knock it out of the ballpark. alas, none of them did.
blake, last week's trailblazer, gave weak and tired performances. i'm afraid there's a huge chance that he'll be in the bottom two this week. kinda like chris daughtry last year. the only difference is that chris left on a hight note. that being said, he's still my favorite of the bunch.
the mighty melinda, with her usual flawless, pitch-perfect performance, wasn't able to draw much emotion from her takes on "love you inside and out" and "how can you mend a broken heart".
a lot of people think jordin had the strongest showing last night. me, not so much. her "to love somebody" was ok at best, but interpretation of miss barbra's "woman in love" was just painful to sit through.
and lakisha? yeah, she's out of there.
one last thing: did barry gibb always have that lishp?
